Sharon Cunningham, of Norman, wife of world traveled missionary Paul Cunningham, died at 58 in Norman Regional Hospital from Metabolic Acidosis, resulting from a rare kidney disease.
Sharon was born in Amarillo, Texas, April 9, 1949, and at age 15, began a lifetime of mission ministry in Farmington, N.M., among the Navajo Indian Tribe. She served as assistant to Pastor Regina Beamis, at Broadway Indian Chapel.
Her marriage to Mr. Cunningham set the stage for a lifetime of service at the side of her husband, in Mexico, Central America, Scandinavia, Africa and the west Indies.
She was a member of Heartland Harvest Church in Norman, where her husband serves as director of Missions under Pastor Jeff Burns.
She is survived by her husband Paul; three daughters, Sheila DeSouza and her husband David of Norman, Linda Robinson of Norman, Kimberly Melton and her husband Robert of Norman; seven grandchildren, David J. DeSouza, Matthew Aaron DeSouza, Paul Jason Cunningham, Christine Cherie Cunningham, Michael Ray Robinson, Stephanie Nicole Melton, Robert Dewayne Melton, all of Norman; her mother, Alma N. Hill of Hot Springs Ark.; and two sisters, Jimmi Moline of Hot Springs, and Francis Weber of Wichita Falls, Texas.
A memorial fund is in her name at Bank of America, with proceeds to be used for missions in her memory.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Burns officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
