Melvin Franklin Jones
Melvin Franklin Jones, 66, of Ada died May 28 at Norman Regional Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Latta. Burial will follow at the New Bethel Cemetery in Byng.
Family said that as a small child, Jones lived in California and Ada, attending school in Ada. Melvin and his wife Maudie Tatum were married in Gainsville, Texas. Jones was an oil field worker and truck driver for Transwood.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father Melvin T. Jones; brother James; sister Blanche Pigeon; and granddaughter Deena McDaniel. Survivors include his mother Fronie Inez of Ada; son Hank and wife Dawn of Purcell; daughters LaDeena McDaniel of Ada and Ahlisha Dansby of Konawa; grandchildren Brandon, Trevor, Caleb, Haley, Dillon, Amanda, Sarah and Dax; sisters Johnnie Graham of Ada and Earlene Latimer and husband Clay of Albuerque, NM; aunt Fran Reeves of Minco; cousin Delta Shulanberger of Mino; niece Pam Munguia and husband Roger of Ada and many other relatives and friends who said they will miss him greatly.
