Michael Rex Klinglesmith, of Oklahoma City, died Jan. 11, at the age of 34. A prayer service/rosary is 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church in Norman. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church in Norman, with the Rev. Richard Stansberry celebrant and Deacon Byron Jacobson assisting. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mr. Klingersmith was raised in Midwest City, where he was an all-state wrestler at Midwest City High School, national freestyle champion. He attended Cornell University on a wrestling scholarship, graduating in 1994. He was a parishioner of St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church and was active in Oklahoma Republican politics, the Norman business community and had campaigned for the Oklahoma State House of Representatives.
Mr. Klinglesmith leaves behind the greatest joys of his life, his wife Angie; daughter Carson, 9, and sons, Michael, 6, and Garynn, 2. He always tried to be the greatest husband and dad. His family was his passion.
He had a zeal for life and will be missed by his family, as well as the wrestling and political communities. He is also survived by his father Philip; mother Sandy Meyer and husband Ralph; sister Tracie Woods; uncle Jack Cox of Denton, Texas; four nieces; and three nephews.
Bearers are Chad Alexander, John Woods, Ralph Meyer, Robert Norris, Chris Baily, Travis Barrett, Ed Ramsey and Terry Lucero. Honorary bearers are Ronson Alexander, Kyle Coleman, Todd Beaty, Travis Short and Trebor Worthen.
