NORMAN — Mattie C. Hunt, 76, passed away March 9, 2013, in Norman.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest. Services will conclude in the chapel. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mattie was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Ardmore to Theodore and Edna (Alexander) Berryhill. Mattie graduated from Ardmore High School in 1954. Following high school, she attended the University of Tulsa for one year in 1955, then St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa, graduating from the nursing program in 1958. She married Robert D. Hunt on Aug. 29, 1959, in Ardmore. Mattie enjoyed a long, successful nursing career in which she excelled at compassionate and expert patient care. As a mother, she participated in Girl Scouts, school trips and many activities with her three daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Theodore Berryhill Jr.; a sister, Marilyn Berryhill Magid; and a grandson, Benjamin A. Morris.

Mattie is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Robert of the home; and her three daughters, Callie E. Hunt, Alice Hunt Johnson and husband Justin and Carrie Hunt Reynolds and husband David. The light of her life were her five grandchildren, Nathan H. Morris, Ian A. Hunt, Mattie E. Hunt, Amanda T. Reynolds and Christopher R. Reynolds; and three great-grandchildren.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ian A. Hunt, Christopher R. Reynolds, David T. Reynolds, Justin G. Johnson, Nathan H. Morris, Jim Biddick and Milton Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart and Lung Association.
