NORMAN — Marie B. Holland, 89, passed away Feb. 27, 2013. She was born Nov. 1, 1923, to James and Manilla Battle in Mexia, Texas. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 1801 West Brooks Street in Norman.

She attended the University of Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.

In 1947 she married C. Joe Holland, who was a journalism professor at OU for more than 40 years. They were married 59 years at the time of his death in 2007.

Marie worked as a medical technologist in the laboratory at Norman Municipal Hospital for many years. She also worked at the Doctors Park laboratory.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents, her brother, C.L. Battle, and her sister, Jo Eunice Battle.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Holland Blacknall, son-in-law, Bob Blacknall, and several nieces and nephews.
