NORMAN — Evelyn Poynter “Aunt Ebbie” Luellen, 92, was born in New Castle, Ind., on Feb. 25, 1920, to John R. and Labartia Leffel Poynter, who preceded her in death. Aunt Ebbie went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fresh Start Community Church in Moore. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Evelyn retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis and drove a school bus in her later years. She was also worked in the church nursery, where she became a part of many families in the church.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Porter, Doloris Garner, Cleo Schroth and Mellissa Rood; and four brothers, Lester Poynter, Albert Poynter, Jimmy Poynter and J.R. Poynter.
She is survived by one son, Farrell Luellen and wife Ellen of Hiawassee, Ga.. and many nieces and nephews in Indiana.
Aunt Ebbie’s family also includes Letha Johnson, who preceded her in death; Orlando, Charlene and Jamie (J.J.) Hernando of Moore; Felicia Hernando, husband Glen Robinson and children Kyla, Rece and Jace Barkley of Moore; Kent Denney, wife Anita of Lumberton, N.J., and children Elizabeth Burchell, husband Jeremy of Tampa, Fla., and Ryan Denney of Coral Springs, Fla.; Tricia Brooks, husband Joe and children Thomas and Lindley of Louisville, Ky.; and Beverly King, husband Ricky and children Jonathan, Andrew and Jacob of Germantown, Ohio.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Primrose.
