NORMAN — Sean Miller, 43, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Whistler, Canada.
Memorial Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman, with interment in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 6, 1969, in Wichita, Kan., to Lawrence and Inis (Goff) Miller. He was united in marriage to Melanie Goodner on Oct. 21, 2011, in Midwest City.
Sean attended schools in Harrah, graduating from Harrah High School in 1987. He then enrolled at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, graduating in 1993 with a BA in information systems. Sean continued his education, enrolling at the University of Oklahoma and obtaining his degree in physical therapy in 1998. At the time of his death, Sean was employed as a physical therapist for Norman Regional Health Care Systems, working with his patients at Norman Regional’s outpatient clinic. He was currently working toward his MBA at OU.
Sean was a great outdoor enthusiast and loved hiking, biking, running and skiing. He traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. His goal was to travel to all continents and he had currently visited six. He was a sports fan, a dog lover (especially Waylon) and a home project do-it-yourselfer. Sean was a devout Catholic and loved reading the Bible. He was passionate about discussing religion, history and politics. Sean will be remembered as a loyal friend and a loving son, brother, uncle and husband.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Inis Miller in 1997; his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Regina Goff; and his paternal grandparents, Joe and Anna Miller.
Sean is survived by his wife, Melanie Miller of the home; his father, Lawrence “Larry” Miller and his fiance B.J. Sexton of Norman; one brother, Jason Miller and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma City; one sister, Monica Miller; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Bob Goodner of Norman; five nieces, Elle Miller of Oklahoma City, Kaela Williams of Norman, Emily Williams of Norman, Audrey Goodner of Virginia and Jessica Pendley of Fort Worth, Texas; two nephews, Alex Miller of Oklahoma City and Robert Goodner of Virginia; one sister-in-law, Kimberly Williams of Norman; one brother-in-law, Robert Goodner and wife Ashlye of Virginia; and many dear friends, coworkers, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma or Norman Regional Food Bank, 3355 S. Purdue St., Oklahoma City, OK 73179, or the Christian Foundation for Children and the Aging, One Elmwood Ave., Kansas City, KS 66103.
The Miller family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
Arrangements are by the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
