NORMAN — Larie H. Bauer (Schwartz), 73, of Richland Heights, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012.
Larie requested a private funeral with her family at the resting place of her beloved parents and brother in Southampton, N.Y.
Larie was born Jan. 26, 1939, in Westbury, N.Y., to Paul E. Bauer and Marie Lauden-Bauer. She attended Westbury High School and then Cazenovia College in upstate New York. She later moved to Norman to raise her family.
Laurie enjoyed her many friends and familiy in life from Westbury; Norman; Hollywood, Fla.,; Asheville, N.C.; and St. Louis. Throughout her life, she enjoyed writing letters, playing cards, dancing, volunteering for countless charities, politicial and social events, and reveled in her relationships with many churches, namely St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman.
She was a supporter of the arts, a caregiver, and an amazing cook who loved to entertain. Larie “dressed with flair” and enjoyed (especially) hats, shoes and shopping. She had an artistic talent, making beautiful Christmas wreaths each holiday season, and numerous pieces of jewelry and ceramic pottery items through her life.
Her family and friends recall how she could light up a room when she walked in and she will be remembered for her wonderful smile, sharp wit, infectious laugh and warm heart.
Larie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Boetel of Ashville, and brother, Paul Bauer of Southampton.
Survivors include her daughter, Kari S. Pratt and husband Steve Pratt, and their children, Lauren Pratt, Stephanie Pratt and Ben Pratt, all of St. Louis; her sons, Robert L. Schwartz II and his children, EmmaLee Schwartz and Jake Schwartz, all of Dallas, and Jamesl L. Schwartz and his wife, Brook S. Beavers, of Norman; sister, Jayne Bauer-Hughes of Clearwater, Fla., and many loving nieces and nephews.
