NORMAN — Al was born to loving parents Al and Ruth Krings in Chicago, on July 24, 1946, and grew up in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Al graduated high school in Worthington, Ohio and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Miami University of Ohio. Al served in the Army, last posted at USAG Carlisle Barracks, Pa. (home of Army War College), earning the Army Commendation Medal, and was also recognized for his marksmanship and participation in military gun salutes. He was recruited to IBM and had a long, dedicated career with the company beginning his career in Indiana and then transferring to California where he served as an Area Staff Analyst in support of Area Plans and Operations, US Marketing & Services. After retiring from IBM, and moving to Norman, Al was able to pursue other business and personal interests.
Al was a deeply loved, very special husband, soul mate, partner, and best friend to his wife Patti of almost 27 years. He loved his home, his dogs and all sports but especially college football and the Sooners that he followed since the 50’s. He excelled in anything detailed and enjoyed making plans for great escapes and adventures with his wife.
Al’s sister, Donna Woltz-Dyer of Kenton, Ohio and brother, Brad Krings of Sugar Hill, Ga. both visited recently. They will join his wife in a private celebration of his life early next year in Hawaii, as he had wished, along with a celebration of his parents who went before.
Al made his transition peacefully on the morning of Dec. 18 with his wife and dogs by his side. Heart-felt and gratitude to dear friends and family for all their love and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to any cancer fighting organization.
