NORMAN — Joan Baylink Jones, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Norman.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at New Life Bible Church in Norman, with Alan Danielson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, with military honors.

Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Rainier, Ore., the daughter of Richard Hendricks and Sophia Baylink. After the death of her mother at age four, she was raised by her aunt, Marie, and uncle, Ray Baylink.

Mrs. Jones was a proud veteran, serving as a RN in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Dec. 26, 1950, she married William Thomas Jones Sr. Mrs. Jones helped establish the St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Ore. The family moved to Norman from Portland in 1968. She taught the LPN program at the Moore-Norman Vo-Tech.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chief William T Jones; and brothers Ricky Hendricks and Dick Hendricks.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her children Judy Cornatzar and husband Joe of Norwood, N.C., William T. Jones Jr. and wife Toni of Thackerville, Shelley Harmon and husband Mike of Norman and Kathi Hurst of Norman; grandchildren Joe Cornatzar, Paul Cornatzar, Shane Cornatzar, Tony Hyatt, Dawn Shepard, Kathi McDanel, Stephanie Wise, Michelle Jones, Bailey Jones, Amy Harmon, Jason Harmon, Rebecca Hurst and Adam Hurst; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dr. David Baylink.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 - 5 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.
