NORMAN — Richard Lee Zahourek, 83, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Oklahoma City. Richard was born April 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City to Charles and Corine Zahourek.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at South Lakes chapel, with burial to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wheatland.
A life-long resident of south Oklahoma City, Richard was a third generation 89’er of Bohemian emigrants who homesteaded near Wheatland. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1947.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army. On May 27, 1951, he married Eddie Belle Shanks and they celebrated 49 years together before she passed in 2001. Richard proudly retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1993 as a highly skilled pattern maker of the Tool & Dye Division, where he happily turned his hobby and love of wood working into his profession.
He attended First Southern Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed fishing and going to his cabins at Lakes Texoma and Eufaula. He will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife and brother, Chas Wesley Zahourek Jr.
He leaves cherished memories with his daughter, Lisa Zahourek of Oklahoma City; Mike Goss Sr. of Mustang; son, Mark Zahourek and wife Barbara of Norman; sister, Katherine Lobdell of Trinity, Texas; grandchildren Hayley Startzman and husband Todd, Mike Goss Jr. and Courtney Shannon and husband Trevor, all of Okahoma City; friend, Barbara Reed; and many loving family and friends.
Viewing will be 4 to 8 p.m. at Vondel Smith — South Lakes today, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Vondel Smith & Son Mortuary at South Lakes, 4000 S.W. 119th St. in Oklahoma City.
