Orel Winfield Lee

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Orel Winfield Lee, 94, of Norman, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born April 9, 1918, to Lon and Lila (Turnpaugh) Lee near Lexington.

Services for Mr. Lee will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Skyridge Freewill Baptist Church, 150 S. 48th St. in Noble, with Rev. Greg Cleveland and Rev. Mike Garner officiating. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery.

He graduated from Lexington High School in 1936. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving four years during World War II.

Orel lived in Oklahoma for all of his life except during the time of his military service. He was an avid golfer, a Master Gardener and assisted in the construction of a harpsichord for the University Lutheran Chapel of Norman. He has also assisted in many other community volunteer activities.

He married Lucille Owens on April 13, 1940. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1997. He married Vida Davault Truman on Oct. 27, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Vida; stepchildren, Terrell Turman and wife Eudene and Karen Nes Smith and husband George; six stepgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Services have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service.
