NORMAN — Irma Funk, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Mercy Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Primrose chapel, with Ron Fishburn officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Irma was born on the 20th day of July 1948 in Effingham, Ill., to Vernon “Bennie” Tate and Minnie Mae Bilskemper Tate. She was the youngest of four girls. Irma grew up in a close-knit family and she tried to instill that same unconditional love in all of her family members.
Irma worked as a Registered Nurse for the majority of her life. She has worked in all aspects of nursing, from operation to pediatrics in emergency room to home health and long-term care facilities where her love for the elderly found the perfect job for her. Irma loved all the special ladies she had the pleasure of working with.
She was always a very caring, nurturing, compassionate and loving person. She had a huge heart and people loved her for that — always a listening ear and advice when needed.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L Funk Jr.; mother, Minnie Mae Bilskemper; father, Vernon “Bennie” Bilskemper; and sister, Tiny Viola Bilskemper.
Irma is survived by her sisters Geannie Bilskepmer of Norman and Mary Kroninger of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters Paula Harmon and her husband David Link of Norman and Rhonda Harmon of Norman; four grandchildren, Floyd Harmon of Norman, Kathy Cozart of Shawnee, Erin Harmon of Norman and Tiffany Yeary of Norman; and three great-grandsons, Tanner and Jackson Hathcock of Shawnee and Ian Alan Thurston of Midwest City; along with a host of family and friends here and in Illinois and Missouri.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nursing staff on the fourth floor at Mercy. We couldn’t have asked for more loving people to help us take care of our mom in her final days. Blessed be you.
