Nancy Cure

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Nancy Cure, beloved wife of Michael Cure and loving mother of Justin Cure died Thursday. She was a faithful and dedicated employee of the Oklahoma City and Norman Public School Systems.

She first taught school at the age of 19 at John Glenn Jr. High(science) in Oklahoma City for seven years. She then moved to Wilson Elementary in Norman to teach third grade, from there to Washington Elementary. She taught in public education from 1973 until her retirement in 2003. For the past 10 years, she conducted employee training for the University of Oklahoma and the Center for Employee Development. She was a Leadership Contributor for the United Way of Norman for five years, always surpassing her goals.

Nancy was born in Oklahoma City and was a lifetime resident of Oklahoma. She was devoted to her parents, Luther and Junelle Marsden. She is survived by Justin’s wife Sydney, a brother James, his wife Ruth and sister, Peggy. Nancy was the treasured aunt of Jeffrey, James, Robert, Jennifer and Elizabeth Marsden and Steven Wimberley. She will be remembered dearly by her family, her students and friends as an exceptionally loving and caring person. Nancy touched the lives of many and always placed the needs of others above her own.

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Norman, 211 West Comanche. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wild Care, United Way or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home of Moore.
