Kenneth L. Hale

NORMAN — Kenneth L. Hale, 89, died Friday, Dec. 21, in Moore.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27at Lynlee Mae Chapel, 507 E. Main in Moore. Burial will be held in private. Arrangements are by John M. Ireland Funeral Home.

Mr. Hale was born March 23, 1923, in Oil Hill (El Dorado), Kan., to Orville and Iva Mae Hale.

He served in the Air Force between 1943 and 1946 as a crew chief and flight engineer on B-24 bombers and Beech D-18’s.

While on leave, he married Alma (Foster) Hale in 1945. After serving in the Armed Forces, he attended Spartan School of Engineering in Tulsa. He then went to work for a short time at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., before moving to Oklahoma City in 1951 to work for Aero Commander as assistant chief engineer.

In 1955 the family moved to Norman where he retired as director of engineering with Rockwell International and Gulfstream Aerospace in 1987.

He enjoyed RV camping, traveling, golf, fishing, sports, bridge and reading. He touched many people with his smile and sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother. Gene Hale and sisters, Helen Dixon and Ione Ware.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Alma; son, Craig Hale; daughter, Nancy Hale; son, Ken Hale and wife Lesa; and adopted daughter, Carole Painter.
