Mary Ann Louise Arndt Langenbach

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Mary Ann Louise Arndt Langenbach, 70, died at her home Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.

There will be no services, but donations in her honor may be made to the Michael Langenbach Scholarship, c/o Autumn McMahon, 820 Van Vleet Oval, ECH 100, Norman, OK 73019-2041.

Mary Ann was born March 11, 1942, to Alvin Arndt and Marion (Quimby) Arndt in Kenosha, Wis., where she grew up and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1960.

She married Michael Langenbach on Jan. 18, 1964, in Kenosha. In 1969, they moved to Norman when Michael accepted a faculty position at the University of Oklahoma. Devoted to her children, Mary Ann served as a homeroom mother and elementary school library assistant, and never missed a school or sporting event in which they participated. She later worked at the University of Oklahoma Press.

Mary Ann doted on her two grandsons, Jackson Monroe, 17, and Jonathan Langenbach, 9, both of whom could do no wrong in her eyes. She was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed reading, watching “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” and giving her two cents worth to anyone who dared to condradict the Democrat Party line. Her sharp wit was unmatched.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by Michael, her loving husband of 47 years; parents Alvin Arndt and Marion Witczak, and brother, Eddy of Kenosha.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Langenbach and Lisa Monroe, both of Norman; two grandsons, Jackson Monroe and Jonathan Langenbach; brothers, Ray and his wife Mary of Deerbrook, Wis., and Michael Palmer of Richfield, Minn.; and sister Shari Klinkerfuss and her husband John of Oklahoma City.
