Bettye Roberta Ryan

NORMAN — Bettye Roberta Ryan was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Norman to Dr. Robert O. and Ora Ryan. She passed away at her home in rural Norman on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born at Norman Municipal Hospital, the youngest of three. She had two older brothers, David and Bill. Bettye graduated from Norman High School in 1967. Soon after graduation, she married and had three sons and raised them in Norman. After her sons were married, she moved to Wayne, where she founded Clay Bank Ranch. She was an officer of many Kiger Mustang organizations. After 12 years in Wayne, she resettled back in rural Norman.

Bettye was a very intelligent, independent, strong-willed, creative and artistic woman. She tried to pass all of these values down to her sons.

Bettye was preceded in death by her father; mother; brother, David; and one grandson, Seth.

Survivors include all three sons, Lee Ryan, Monte Brown and Sam Ryan and his wife Kim; six grandchildren, Eliya Kneuppel, Alex Ryan, Jessica Brown, Katie Brown, Laini Ryan and Hunter Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Dakoda Kneuppel and Lucy Ryan; and one brother, William “Bill” Ryan and wife Sandy of Sparks, Nev.

Arrangements for Bettye and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
