NORMAN — Jerry Hicks, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at her home in Noble.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at McMahans Funeral chapel. Services will be officiated by Pastor Dylan Cole. Casket bearers will be Gary Cero, Corky Hager, Greg Lewis, Steve Lewis, Jesse Duffy and Jake Baze. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Noble.
Jerry was born in Wapanucka on Dec. 23, 1932 to Ted and Velma (Layland) Lewis. She graduated from Noble high School in 1951. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in November, 1951 and was honorably discharged in April, 1953.
On March 6, 1953 Jerry married Corkey Hicks in Norman. They later moved to Lawton where Jerry attended Nursing School, graduating in 1963. Jerry and Corkey moved to Noble in 1964 where Jerry owned and operated the Noble Nursing Home, she then worked as a Nurse in a doctor’s office for the next 20 years. During the last several years of her Nursing Career she worked in the home health care business.
Jerry enjoyed dancing, fishing, watching football and playing slot machines. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Corkey and Brothers; Ben, Ted and Jim Lewis.
She is survived by two daughters; Cindy Cero and husband Gary and Gala Hicks and husband David Hager all of Noble. granddaughters; Stacy Baze of Noble and Christi Hager of Moore, Grandsons; Gary C. Cero and his wife Kristal of Norman, Corky Hager and his wife Robbin of Edmond, six great grandchildren; Jake, Jordan and Tate Baze, Savanna and Sydnee Cero and Kaybree Hager. Twin brother Bud Lewis and his wife Teddy of Tulsa, numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Jerry’s sister-in-law Carol Lewis for helping care for Jerry during the last few months.
