NORMAN — Dorothy Finch, 95, of Norman passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Noble Health Care Center.
Services are will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Wilson-Little Chapel. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Dorothy Marie Johnson was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Talihina, the second of seven children born to Joshua Thomas ‘Mack’ Johnson and Florida Mae (Keith) Johnson. She spent her early childhood in Talihina, and began school there.
They later moved to Washington, where Dorothy graduated high school in 1935. She married her true love; a young man named Earl Fredrick Finch on Dec. 17, 1938, and they farmed near Washington until 1955, when they moved to Fort Worth, Texas, for two years.
They settled in Norman where together they raised their son, Keith and daughter, Judy.
Dorothy was a gifted seamstress and worked many years for both Harold’s Men’s Store and Hancock Fabrics in Norman. Her greatest joy however, was being a homemaker. She cherished her family and worked tirelessly, caring and providing for them.
Dorothy loved the Lord and served faithfully at Trinity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Norman for more than 50 years. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She will be greatly missed!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Mae Johnson; four sisters, Maxine Moore, Reba McPherson, Eva Lou Underwood and Lillian Kathleen Ross and two brothers, Clyde Johnson and Gene Johnson.
Survivors include her loving husband, Earl Finch; her daughter, Judy Freeman of Norman; her son, Keith Finch and wife Burlyn of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Karen Wahl and husband Brad of Ooltewah, Tenn., Eric Freeman and wife Natalie of Monroe, Wash., Anne Mahlmann and husband Rainer of Monroe, Wash., Brian Finch and wife Melynee of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Emily Williams and husband Josh of Spring, Texas; two stepgrandchildren, Sally Burkett of Gainesville, Ga., and Emily Cripps and husband Jim of Pleasant View, Tenn.; 13 greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Golden Years Ministries, 25898 State Highway 76, Blanchard, OK 73010.
