Aaron ‘Ron’ Murphy

NORMAN — Aaron “Ron” Murphy, as we know him, left us early in the morning Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012. His long battle with cancer finally came to an end.

He left behind his daughters Lou Ann Murphy and Dana Lee Drake; his sons Vernon and Nicholas Murphy; his sister, Diane Struve; and brother, Joe Lee Murphy Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Murphy; and his brother, Scott.

Ron was a renowned diesel mechanic who made the most of what he had and could fix what you broke. A devoted fisherman, he spent most of his life fishing and working on the South Canadian River. Ron and his brothers, Joe and Scott, and dad, Joe Murphy, were in construction in Cleveland County for more than 50 years. They formed and ran several companies, including Joe Murphy Construction, Red River Construction, South Canadian Contracting and Murphy Brothers Construction. Most recently, Ron ran and operated Murphy’s Mobile Truck Repair.

Ron was known for his animated storytelling of the Murphy Brother antics and that oversized catfish still evading capture under some log in the river. All who knew and loved him will miss the old Rascal.

A private viewing for family and close friends is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. today at McMahan’s Funeral Home in Noble.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McMahan’s Funeral Home in Noble. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved grandmother, Vivian Murphy.
