NORMAN — Jo Evelyn Rose, 89, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Norman. She was born April 7, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., to Charles and Jose Nell (Hobson) Gage.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.

Jo grew up and attended school in Memphis, Tenn. Jo was united in marriage in 1944 to Frank Lyons Rose in Fort Worth, Texas. She was active in the Military Wives Association in Norman. She loved volunteering at the hospital and helping out where ever she could. Big band music was a major part of her life. Jo loved raising her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Lyons Rose on Sept. 28, 2010.

Jo is survived by one son, Richard Lyons Rose and wife Kathleen of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Susan Knight and husband Gary of Norman; five grandchildren, William Lyons Rose and wife Jennifer, Robert Lyons Rose, Frank Jesse Smith and wife Kimberly, Samuel Lyons Knight and Christopher Patrick Knight; and two great-grandchildren Truman Lyons Rose and Giuliana Rose Smith.

Arrangements for Jo and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family and Havenbrook Funeral Home.
