Russells to celebrate 50 years together

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Paul and Mary Russell will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Oct. 20.

Paul Russell lived in a rooming house in Norman with two of Mary Prater’s brothers, Norman and Claude.

Paul took a vacation with the brothers to their home in Poteau. There he met their sister, Mary.

Paul and Mary were married on Oct. 20, 1962, in Chickasha. The couple later moved to Chickasha, Paul’s hometown.

Paul and Mary have lived in Norman since 1965. Paul was employed at The Norman Transcript for 40 years until he retired.

Mary retired from the Norman Public Schools lunch program. She was the kitchen manager at Cleveland Elementary School for 22 years. She also was the hiring clerk for all cafeteria employees.

The couple have two sons, Gordon and Collin, and his wife Shlonda. They have three grandchildren, Lindsay, Ethan and Lauren.

Paul and Mary plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary during a party, hosted by their family, from 2-4 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Senior Citizens Center, 329 S. Peters Ave.
