Hawkins, Russell marry


Melinda Dawn Hawkins and Brian David Russell, both of Norman, were married Aug. 29 at the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom in the Oklahoma Memorial Union.

The bride is the daughter of Eric and Landa Hawkins of Norman. She is a 2005 graduate of Norman High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in visual communications. She is a graphic designer for The University of Oklahoma Outreach.

The groom is the son of James and Nancy Russell of Norman. He is a 2005 graduate of Norman High School and a 2009 graduate of OU with a degree in public relations. He is an account manager for SET Environmental Inc.

Pastor Rick Anthony officiated the ceremony.

Musicians included a string quartet, assembled by Patrick Conlon, who played "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," "Ode to Joy from Symphony No. 9," and "Canon in D." Soloist Jack Baker sang, "A Page has Turned."

The bride wore a strapless, candlelight white ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and a chapel-length train with pockets. The Martina Liana gown was made of Italian Dupioni silk with pearl and crystal accents. The tulle, two-tiered veil had crystal trim and was attached to a crystal comb.

Her bouquet was composed of hydrangeas, lisianthus, statice, freesia, button mums and berries in greens and purples with lavender roses tied with a satin ribbon secured with a diamond brooch belonging to the bride's great-great- grandmother.

Caroline Hawkins, sister of the bride, of Norman, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kelsey Baker, Frisco, Texas, Jamie Tarver, Norman, Brittany Stewart, Stillwater, Jessica McClanahan, Traci Fuller and Jessica Boersma, all of Norman, Linsey Olsen, Carlisle, Iowa, and Hayden McIntyre, Lone Grove.

Best man was Kellen McCoy, Bloomington, Ind.

Groomsmen were Colin Barnett, Matt Gonzales, Andrew Gonzales, Yousuf Elyazgi, Garrett Burton, Cade Campbell, Blake Baptist and Blake Jenkinson, all of Norman.

Ushers were Mike Mayberry, Norman, Josh Miller, Monroe, La., and Dustin Rachal, Norman.

Flower girls were Lainey Olsen, daughter of Lee and Rob Olsen of Carlisle, and Taylor McIntyre, daughter of Steven and Lisa McIntyre of Lone Grove.

The ring bearer was Allison Mayberry, daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Mayberry of Norman.

Guest book attendants were Kacey Benedetto, Flower Mound, Texas, and Mattie French, Houston.

A reception followed at the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom, Oklahoma Memorial Union

The couple honeymooned for a week in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and have established a home in Norman.
