Couple to be honored with reception today

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dennis of Norman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

Leon became acquainted with Nell Dean Woods through church activities in Clarita with the help of her brother Bob. Leon and Nell were married at Clarita Church of Christ on Dec. 15, 1962.

Following marriage the couple lived in Lawton and then Weatherford. They have since lived in Norman for 38 years.

Leon is in his 38th year of ministry at the Westside Church of Christ in Norman. He served as the pulpit minister for 35 years and now provides family and marriage counseling at Westside

Nell retired from the Moore public schools after 25 years of teaching. She now works in her home-based medical billing practice.

The couple’s children include Dr. Bruce Dennis and his wife Sheri of Fittstown, and Dr. Brent Dennis and his wife Laura Dennis of Tulsa. The couple also have seven grandchildren.

Leon and Nell will be recognized at an evening reception at Westside Church of Christ today. The family looks forward to a celebration trip together to California later this month.
