Interstate All Battery Center honored as best store

By Carol Cole-Frowe

Interstate All Battery Center employees are all charged up.

Out of 108 stores in the franchise group, the Norman location was selected as the chain's best store for May.

Manager Carol Harrington said it was not expected at all -- and something that's hard to achieve when many of those stores are in much larger markets and gross much more.

"As we have grown, the whole company has grown," she said.

Harrington said the contest is measured by different parameters like customer service and profit margins. She said they especially pride themselves on exceptional customer service.

Interstate All Battery sells any kind of battery that can be imagined at their Norman store at 1065 36th Ave. NW, south of Robinson Street on 36th Avenue NW.

"We do a lot of rebuilding and a lot of watch battery installs," she said.

But they also sell everything from car batteries to flashlight batteries.

It will have been open seven years as of Nov. 1.

Harrington said the secret to their success is that they are "problem solvers."

"Everybody who walks in has something that is frustrating them, that doesn't work," she said.

The store is owned by Tom Rickey of Chickasha.
