Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice James Edmondson will swear in Norman attorney David A. Poarch to the Oklahoma Bar Association Board of Governors to serve as member-at-large 10 a.m. Friday in the State Capitol's Supreme Court Courtroom.
Poarch is a 1977 graduate of the OU College of Law. He was appointed assistant dean for external affairs and adjunct professor of OU law in 1997, after years of public service as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.
Poarch practiced private law for more than 10 years. He also served as chief operating officer and general counsel to the Oklahoma subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company.
Poarch serves as a master of the Luther Bohanon chapter of the American Inns of Court and was an active, elected member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Board of Governors from 2001 to 2003.
Tulsa attorney Allen Smallwood will be sworn in as the association's 2010 president. Eufaula attorney Deborah Reheard will take the office of OBA president-elect, and she will become president Jan. 1, 2011. Mack K. Martin of Oklahoma City will be sworn in as OBA vice president, and Jon K. Parsley of Guymon will become immediate past president.
OBA Board of Governors members being sworn in for three-year terms are Glenn Devoll, Enid; Ryland Rivas, Chickasha; and Susan Shields, Oklahoma City. Young Lawyers Division Chairperson Molly Aspan of Tulsa will take the oath of office to serve on the board for one year.
