Tip-Off Trolley adds free basketball tickets to bus rides

By Transcript Staff

Basketball fans can score free tickets to Saturday's Oklahoma men's basketball game by riding the Cleveland Area Rapid transit as part of CART's Tip-Off Trolley series.

CART is offering free admission to the Big 12 conference game to those who ride the Apartment Loop trolley route to the noon tip-off at the Lloyd Noble Center.

This is the first of three Tip-Off Trolley games in which passengers, who pay the regular bus fare to ride to OU men's and women's basketball games, receive free tickets while supplies last.

The partnership between CART and the OU Athletics Department is an ongoing initiative to encourage the community and sports fans to recognize the Norman public transportation system as a viable option to go to athletic events and other destinations through the city.

The free tickets will be available on the Apartment Loop trolley beginning 10 a.m. The route begins on the South Oval of the OU campus, stopping at the Lloyd Noble Center once an hour at 14 minutes after the hour on Saturdays. Riders may park along the Apartment Loop and board the trolley or ride another CART route to the South Oval to transfer to the Tip-Off Trolley.

Other Tip-Off trolley games include OU women's games versus Kansas Jan. 23 and Colorado Feb. 13.

CART also will feature Bus to the Ballpark in the spring for free tickets to OU baseball and softball games. All games are on Saturday to help make it a family event.

The regular CART fare is 50 cents. Prices for seniors, those with disabilities and youth ages 6 to 17 are 25 cents. Children under 6 ride free.
