NORMAN — Beginning this morning and continuing through Friday at 11:59 p.m., readers can resume voting in The Transcript’s annual Best of the Best contest. And, although online votes can only be submitted at normantranscript.com, the process is free for three days of voting.
This past Saturday, contest judges halted online voting to review some aspects of the contest, including the pay-to-play option. This portion of the online contest was patterned after a similar two-part contest conducted previously by the newspaper, including cutest baby and favorite pets competition.
In both of those contests, readers voted on newspaper ballots and then voted during the contest’s final phase in a digital format. However, due in part to the popularity and heavy voting volume for the Best of the Best contest, the voting submission rules have been tweaked.
As a result, all votes cast online today, Thursday and Friday will be free.
Paid online votes submitted last week will not count in the final results and refunds will be sent to those early voters.
Now, online voters will only need to register once and then they can vote free one time each of the next three days. There is no requirement that registered voters must cast a daily online ballot, but it’s an option.
Also similar to the earlier print ballots, readers may select the categories and do not have to complete the entire ballot.
Please note, contest judges will monitor multiple ballots submitted by any voter on a single day, and multiple daily votes by one person will be disqualified.

All votes will be tallied, and the winners will be showcased in a special section that will be published in an upcoming February edition of The Transcript.
