Muskogee police arrest three in alleged kidnapping plot

MUSKOGEE — Three people were arrested after Fort Gibson police uncovered a kidnapping plot that had gone awry, according to Muskogee police reports.

Muskogee police Sgt. Brandon Combs said officers were investigating an alleged protective order violation when they learned of a plot by Aaron Dale Craiger, 26, to kidnap the mother of Craiger’s son from a church Fort Gibson.

Combs said the plot was uncovered and the arrests were made Dec. 30, but would not say when the kidnapping attempt took place.

Craiger was arrested as were two others, Anthony Foster, 24, and Jessica Sanchez, 27, who police say took active roles in the attempted kidnapping, Combs said.

Craiger was booked into the Muskogee County/City Detention Center on $35,000 bond on complaints of:

· Protective order violation;

· Conspiracy to commit a felony (kidnapping); and

· Possession of a weapon in commission of a felony after former conviction of a felony. 

Foster and Sanchez posted $25,000 bond each on Dec. 31, a jail spokeswoman said. 

Foster had been book into the jail on complaints of:

· Conspiracy to commit a felony (kidnapping); and

· Possession of a weapon in commission of a felony.

Sanchez had been booked into the jail on complaints of:

· Conspiracy to commit a felony; and

· Possession of a weapon in commission of a felony.

Combs said officers learned a knife had been purchased and used during the kidnapping attempt. 

“During the investigation, it was learned that Craiger had also attempted to enlist the help of others who had refused to take part in the attempt,” Combs said. “Foster and Sanchez took an active role in the attempt.”

Craiger, Foster and Sanchez have not been formally charged, according to online court records. Craiger pleaded guilty Sept. 22, 2006, to five counts of second-degree rape in Oklahoma County, according to online court records. Craiger received a sentence of 10 years in Oklahoma Department of Corrections custody. He was ordered to register as a sex offender, records state. Craiger’s DOC records state he served three years and eight months of the 10-year term and was released Oct. 26, 2010.
