Lawyers fight hunger in Norman

NORMAN — Lawyers Against Hunger is again raising donations to purchase turkeys for the less fortunate. The deadline to purchase turkeys is this Oct. 29, and more of the tax-deductible donations are needed. 

“It is tax-deductible,” said Bernstein. “It will make a difference in people’s lives. And it will make you feel good inside.”

Lawyers  Against Hunger will be giving away turkeys to the less fortunate on Nov. 15 at the parking lot of David Bernstein’s law firm from noon until 1p.m. or until we run out of turkeys. To get a free turkey, families must register on Nov. 15, starting at 11 a.m. at the Bernstein Law Office. Each family will get one ticket which can be exchanged for a free turkey.

Last year, Lawyers Against Hunger gave away 700 turkeys to less fortunate families in Cleveland County, and we hope to raise enough money this year to give away even more turkeys.

Folks from Cleveland County that have donated this year include David Bernstein, who has donated $5,000, Denney & Barrett has donated $1,000, Naifeh & Associates has donated $1,000, Jim Loftis, Johnson Law Firm, Dr. Ron Tripp, and Dr. Jim Rankin have each donated $500, Alissa Hutter and Crowe & Dunlevy have each donated $100.

Right now we are about $5,000 behind last year’s donations from Cleveland County. Every $20 tax-deductible donation will allow a family that is down on their luck to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving.
