Norman fire investigators are trying to piece together what sparked a fire that destroyed a structure in the northeast part of the county early Friday.
Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said the fire at 10110 141st Ave. NE was called in at 8:13 a.m. Friday. The blaze quickly spread. When firefighters arrived, the flames had already engulfed the building.
"They went on a defensive mode when they got there because the structure was fully involved," Bailey said.
He described the structure as a "one story residence."
Bailey said a woman was able to escape the burning home. She was transported by EMSStat to Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He said he did not have her name or age available. There was no word as to what sparked the fire.
Bailey said firefighters from Norman, Little Axe, Oklahoma City and a tanker from Tinker Air Force Base responded to the blaze. They used tankers to shuttle water to the fire.
