The Norman Fire Department is investigating a fire that damaged an apartment unit Sunday morning.
Norman Assistant Fire Chief Mike Wilson said the fire was reported at 1:53 a.m. Sunday at 515 E. Alameda St. Firefighters pulled up to the scene three minutes later.
Wilson said when fire crews arrived, flames and smoke were shooting from the apartment entrance. The blaze scorched a wall in the breezeway.
"The fire was contained to the apartment of origin," Wilson said.
He said three other apartments sustained smoke damage.
"We had the fire out in probably 10 minutes," Wilson said.
He said investigators believe the fire may have started in the kitchen area. One person lived at the apartment.
No injuries were reported, Wilson said. An estimate of damage was listed at $40,000.
Wilson said six fire units responded to the blaze. Firefighters cleared the scene two hours later.
