The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History offers a casual, musical night at the museum, grown-up style, with Dinos and Desserts scheduled 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 7.
The evening will include decadent desserts, beverages, live music and several chances to win prizes including gift certificates to Excavations, the museum store; and tickets to the museum. All guests must be 21 to enter.
Live music will be provided by "Theory Driven," a Norman-based rock band that will be performing an all-acoustic set of both original music and popular covers in the museum's Pleistocene Plaza from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. All museum galleries will be open through the evening, including the special exhibitions "Darwin at the Museum," and "Drawing the Motmot: An Artist's View of Tropical Nature."
Excavations will be offering a special one-night-only sale of 25 percent off on all jewelry from 7 to 9 p.m. Excavations features a wide selection of jewelry including turquoise, hand-made Native American jewelry, fossil and unique imported jewelry from around the world.
"Dinos and Desserts is a fun night out for adults," said Linda Coldwell, public relations officer for the museum. "It's a little bit different -- a great way to spend time together, enjoy some live music, a drink and dessert without the crowded club scene and with the added advantage of exploring the exhibits in a cool after-hours environment. Leave the kids with a sitter and come out for a grown-up field trip!"
Regular tickets to Dino -- Desserts are $13 per person in advance or $15 per person at the door. Museum members receive a discounted price of $12 per person. Ticket price include museum admission and desserts. Guests may reserve tickets by calling 325-3601 or by e-mail at rsvp@snomnh.ou.edu.
