Linda Terrell, executive director of the Center for Children and Families, has accepted the position as executive director of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

A board committee has begun the process of replacing Terrell who has been executive director since 1997. She replaced longtime executive director Libba Smith.

Terrell said she had worked with the Institute for many years. She will start working at the institute in mid-December but will remain living in Norman.

"Norman is my hometown," she said.

The OICA has worked for over 25 years to provide a voice on critical issues that improve the health and well-being of Oklahoma children, youth and families.

Terrell's appointment is to be formally announced at the organization's fall legislative forum today and Wednesday at the University of Central Oklahoma.
