Dads get free admission to OU museums

The University of Oklahoma's two museums -- the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art -- will offer free admission for dads on Father's Day.

All dads will receive free admission 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to their permanent exhibitions, both museums currently feature special exhibitions with a Native American focus. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History offers "One Hundred Summers: A Kiowa Calendar Record," an exhibition featuring 200 drawings by the renowned Kiowa artist and calendar-keeper Silver Horn.

The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art presents "Spirit Red: Visions of Native American Artists from the Rennard Strickland Collection," featuring various works including paintings, baskets, pottery, textiles and sculpture that represent some of the most acclaimed artists of the 20th century to the present.

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is at 2401 Chautauqua Ave. Additional information is available on the museum's Web site: www.snomnh.ou.edu or by calling 325-4712.
