Jurors to hear closing arguments
Closing arguments are expected this morning in the trial of a Norman man, charged with inappropriately touching a child. The trial resumes at 9 a.m. in District Judge Bill Hetherington's courtroom.
James Clayton Galey, 34, is charged with lewd acts with a child. The child, then 8 years old, told an aunt that Galey inappropriately touched her while she was staying overnight at her grandmother's Norman residence. The aunt then contacted police. Galey was charged Oct. 26, 2007, after the aunt contacted police and the child was interviewed by forensic investigators.
Meanwhile, a jury began deliberating another man's fate late Thursday in the courtroom of District Judge Lori Walkley.
Logan Adam Deaton, 24, Norman, is charged with first-degree rape by force and fear. Deaton was arrested after police responded at 1:37 a.m. Dec. 15, 2007, to his apartment in Oklahoma City.
In earlier testimony, the alleged victim testified she was punched, choked and raped by Deaton.
The verdict was not known at press time.
