Contractor knocks out electrical power

A contractor doing non-electrical utility work on Rock Creek Road between 12th Avenue NE and Porter Avenue knocked down an OG--E power pole and disrupted service to several neighborhoods Thursday afternoon.

OG--E spokeswoman Sandra Longcrier said service was cut about 3:30 p.m. Between 1,200 and 1,300 customers were affected by the outage.

"We were able to switch a lot of those customers over and had their power back on quickly, but some customers weren't completed until after 11 p.m."
