The former assistant manager of a local electronic game store was charged Tuesday with diverting more than $11,000 from the business.
Michael Todd Dyer, 26, Ninnekah, was charged with embezzlement.
According to court documents, Dyer told detectives he found a way to re-boot the game store's computer when making a refund, and the refund wouldn't show on the computer, "but the gift card would have the money loaded onto it."
Dyer said he would use the gift cards to purchase items or get cash refunds. He said he was caught by loss prevention because the computer would not get rid of all traces of the gift card being loaded with credit, police said.
