First right-of-way purchases planned
The first right-of-way purchases are planned for Tuesday's council meeting for the upcoming $27 million Robinson Street underpass project.
The proposed purchases include six residential parcels ranging in price from $58,725 to $107,850. They are among the 53 parcels that will need to be acquired for the project, which includes 17 that are total acquisitions and 36 that are partial acquisitions for roadway easements, utility easements or temporary construction easements.
Seven of the easements are for temporary construction.
The right-of-way purchases are included on Tuesday's consent agenda.
Council has a light agenda planned for the meeting.
On the regular agenda is a request for dividing the property at 2520 Wildwood Lane, with an exemption for curbing and guttering.
Replatting would require the installation of curb and gutter on Wildwood Lane and Wildwood Court, although the rest of the Wildwood Estates Second Addition was developed without sidewalks and curb and gutter streets.
"It will not function with the rest of the development to require these improvements," wrote Ken Danner, development coordinator for the City of Norman to council members. Danner noted the drainage may not function because of the existing ditches and the remainder of Wildwood Lane would remain without curb and gutter.
Councilmembers also will consider a proposed ordinance change regarding acceptance of donations.
The current provision of the City Code requires any donation to be accepted by the City Council. The recommendation for the ordinance is to not require council acceptance for anything valuing $250 or more.
Councilmembers have an executive session scheduled for the pre-meeting special session. They plan to discuss purchase of property for a fire station/municipal services facility in the vicinity of 36th Ave. SE and Alameda St., an Ashton Grove lawsuit against the City of Norman, tort claims related to a water line break at Main Street and Crawford Avenue and a sewer line backup at 1718 Smoking Oaks Court.
The council meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers at City Hall, 201 W. Gray St. More information about the council agenda is available online at the City of Norman's Web site at www.NormanOK.gov.
