For The Transcript

Norman Regional Health System will welcome 1,500 third-graders to Kids Are Special People, a day of learning for third graders from Norman Public Schools, Blanchard, Lexington, Robin Hill, Community Christian, All Saints and Newcastle.

The program, which began in 1984, offers children multiple learning stations where information is shared about food and nutrition, germ awareness, gun safety, emergency care, bike safety, fire safety and exercise.

"The Norman Regional Auxiliary Volunteers give many hours of their time and financial support to Kids are Special People. We believe this is a wonderful learning opportunity for local students," said Wendy Fiebrich, Norman Regional Health System manager of volunteer services/auxiliary.

The Norman Regional Hospital Auxiliary hosts Kids Are Special People each year with more than 100 volunteers assisting in the three-day event.
