NEW: Photo of tattoo released in unidentified body case

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has released a photo in hopes of identifying the body of a woman found at Lake Thunderbird a week ago.

According to a release by the agency, much of the body was decomposed, however a tattoo is visible on the woman's lower back. The agency has released a closeup photo of just the tattoo.

OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said Friday a visitor found the woman’s body on one of the lake's banks on Sunday, Aug. 31. Following the discovery, rangers with the state Tourism Department then asked the bureau for assistance.

According to OSBI, the Medical Examiner's Office is continuing to work on establishing a cause of death.

If anyone has information about the tattoo or the unidentified woman, please contact the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
