Free concert at Campus Corner today
A free, public concert will start on Campus Corner shortly after the completion of the 2:30 p.m. University of Oklahoma football game.
"This will probably be the biggest concert we've done on Campus Corner," said Helen Wolney, Campus Corner Association president and owner of The Apothem.
Hooah Palooza will start 6:30 p.m. today and be over by midnight.
The event is sponsored by the Army ROTC, National Guard and Campus Corner Association. Wolney said the ROTC and National Guard approached the association because they were looking for a location for this first-time event. The goal is to raise awareness about the ROTC and National Guard, she said.
Five bands will play in succession for about 45 minutes each: Axis Power Trio, Gunship, The Lily Guild, Camille Harp and Tall Cotton String Band, Wolney said.
The finale performance will be Mike Hosty, who will play for about two hours.
The bands will perform on the street at the corner of Asp Avenue and Boyd Street.
