For the Transcript

Moore Norman Technology Center's HIRE (Help in Reaching Employment) program will sponsor the first Taste of the South 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the South Penn Campus located at SW 134th Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City.

Attendees can sample foods from 22 local restaurants, win great items in the live auction and door prize giveaways, visit booths from more than 20 area businesses offering services and products, and hear live music from the 95th Division Army Band Jazz Combo.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Regional Food Bank's Food 4 Kids program, the Brand Senior Citizen Center, and the HIRE program.

HIRE assists individuals in poverty by offering training and employment services. The Food 4 Kids program provides chronically hungry elementary school children with a backpack of kid-friendly food over the weekends and holidays. The Brand Senior Citizen Center provides a fun and caring environment for senior adults during their daytime hours.

Tickets are $15 or two for $25 if purchased in advance. Call 364-5763, extension 7365 for advance tickets. Tickets also will be sold at the door at the event. Tickets and auction items may be purchased with cash or check.
