The Oklahoma State Veterans Council recently announced the 2007-2008 Oklahoma State Senator of the Year and Representative of the Year.
Taking the honors are Sen. Don Barrington of Senate District 31 and Rep. Ann Coody of House District 64.
The awards are given to the elected officials who demonstrate their commitment to Oklahoma Veterans, their families and survivors.
Sen. Barrington was selected for his guidance and leadership with Veterans Legislation. Rep. Coody was selected for her legislative initiatives and support in the House of Representatives.
The Oklahoma State Veterans Council also will recognize Phillip Driskill, executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs, and Mike Seymour, director of the State Accrediting Agency, both of whom are retiring after many years of services to Oklahoma veterans.
Barrington, Coody, Driskill and Seymour will be presented awards at the Oklahoma Veterans Council meeting 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Oklahoma State Veterans Council meets in the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs Building, 2311 N. Central, Oklahoma City.
