From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, the Norman Healthy Community Coalition and the Norman Fire Department will host the Healthy Community Roadshow at Norman Fire Station No. 3, 500 E. Constitution St.
"The City of Norman is involved in many activities to promote a healthier community," said Lindy Beswick, coordinator community health and wellness for Norman Regional Health System. "The Roadshow is a great way to promote health and wellness to their employees and the community."
The Roadshow is part of the Norman Healthy Community Coalition, a team of businesses, organizations, health care professionals and community members united to improve the health of Norman's citizens. Roadshow booths offer free educational resources to community members revolving around the Coalition's four health initiatives: hypertension, obesity/overweight, smoking and lack of physical exercise.
Although those are all national issues of concern, the coalition has set goals for the local community and is implementing action steps to improve overall health and well-being, officials said.
