OU Outreach to host summer camp in June

A partnership between the University of Oklahoma, The Harris Foundation and the ExxonMobil Foundation will benefit Oklahoma Native American and other underrepresented public and private middle school students this summer through an academic camp. Precollegiate Programs, a department within OU Outreach, is offering "Earth Cycles: A Whole-Earth Approach to the Geosciences" June 8-20 for students in grades six through eight, at no cost to the students.

The Earth Cycles academic camp will provide students the opportunity to study the geosciences through a core curriculum based on science, technology, engineering and math education. Students will participate in class discussions, perform lab research and computer work, go on field trips and more, which will contribute to their learning about the connection between the science concepts of the origin of rocks and minerals and the Native American "Sacred Circle."
