NEW: Bill to allow guns on campus apparently dead for the session
A bill to allow military veterans and others with firearms training to carry concealed weapons on college campuses is dead.
The House-passed bill was to be considered by the Senate appropriations committee, but it was not on the agenda released Monday afternoon, signaling it will not receive further consideration.
University presidents, faculty and students had loudly opposed the measure, which was intended to allow people to protect themselves from violence on campus.
Also left off the agenda was another House-passed measure, which would allow some 18 year olds to obtain a concealed carry permit.
