A 26-year-old Guthrie man, Louis Dale Rentfro, pleaded guilty Wednesday to several charges in connection with a robbery on Christmas Eve, and was ordered to serve five years in prison.
Rentfro pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; and knowingly concealing stolen property. He was given 10 years in prison with all but the first five years suspended on the robbery charge; and five years in prison on each of the other two charges, with the sentences to run concurrently.
District Judge Tom Lucas ordered Rentfro to pay $400 in fines, undergo drug counseling and complete two years' DOC supervision upon his release.
Prosecutors dismissed two counts of robbery because their correct venue was in Oklahoma City, according to court officials.
Moore police were dispatched Dec. 24 to a store parking lot in the 500 block of Southwest 19th Street, in reference to a purse snatching. A witness saw Rentfro pin the victim against another vehicle with the Jeep Cherokee he was driving, taking the woman's purse and dragging her for several feet. The witness chased the Jeep onto Interstate 35 and several streets in Moore, with the Jeep losing control while turning onto Broadway Avenue. Rentfro exited the Jeep and was arrested. The Jeep had been reported stolen, and police reportedly found four purses inside the vehicle, with separate IDs, credit cards and a large sum of cash.
