Man accused in pharmacy theft

Transcript Staff

A 23-year-old Moore man accused of entering a Moore pharmacy, jumping over the pharmacy counter and snatching two, 500-tablet bottles of Vicodin, a popular synthetic narcotic, was charged Wednesday in Cleveland County District Court.

Ricky Deshane Roden is charged with larceny of a controlled dangerous substance.

According to Moore police, Roden entered CVS Pharmacy in the 800 block of Southeast 4th Street just after noon Saturday, vaulted the counter and ran out with two large bottles of the narcotic. Vicodin contains the synthetic narcotic pain reliever hydrocodone, one of the most popular abused pharmaceutical substances in Oklahoma, according to drug enforcement agents.

Moore police apprehended Roden approximately five minutes later, “hiding behind a trash can near 813 SE 5th St.,” according to court documents.

Also Wednesday, Corey Ryan Stone, 25, Norman, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, after former conviction of a felony; and unlawful possession of a firearm by a supervised probationer.

A sheriff’s deputy said he went to serve a warrant Saturday for Stone’s arrest at a residence in the 1300 block of Crownpoint Avenue. After knocking several times, Stone answered the door holding a loaded .12 gauge shotgun, the deputy said.

Stone was being served a warrant for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (automobile), stemming from a Sept. 2 incident, when a man was allegedly assaulted outside his residence in Norman.

Last Feb. 26, Stone was handed a 10-year suspended sentence after entering a plea of “no contest” to a reduced charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. Stone originally was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill, in the Sept. 15, 2006, stabbing of Jayson M. Click, 27, Norman, outside Mr. Bill's Restaurant, 1101 Elm Ave.

Stone was placed on two years’ supervision, and ordered to pay $10,000 restitution toward Click’s medical bills.
