FBI agents arrested a Fort Worth, Texas, man Monday for the March 2 robbery of an Ardmore credit union. The FBI investigation was aided by the actions of a Norman bank employee, who jotted down the man's Texas tag when the man appeared to be "casing" one of two Norman banks earlier the day of the robbery.
Robert David Mielnicki Jr., 24, was taken into custody without incident Monday afternoon by FBI agents in Fort Worth, officials said.
FBI officials allege Mielnicki robbed the MTC Federal Credit Union in Ardmore March 2. Earlier that day, employees at two Norman banks became suspicious of an individual seen acting nervously in the bank lobbies, officials said.
The man left after becoming aware bank employees were watching him, officials said. An employee saw the man get into a truck and was able to jot down the tag number. Police responded to the area, but were unable to locate the man.
Later that afternoon, the Ardmore credit union was robbed by a man matching the description of the man acting suspiciously in Norman.
A criminal complaint of federal bank robbery was lodged against Miielnicki Friday in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
